Open Water Swim Clinic with C26 Triathlon Coach Robbie Bruce

When: Aug. 19, 2017
Where: Finger Lakes State Park,
Over the last 12+ years Robbie has competed in over 75 triathlons ranging from the sprint to Ironman distance. He began coaching in 2011 and has been exclusively focused on triathlon where he has coached over 50 athletes to their first Ironman finish.Robbie excels in the water and has coached hundreds of athletes to success at open water swimming.  He’s worked with a wide range of abilities including: beginner-level and first-time triathletes, Ironman 70.3 and Kona qualifiers, along with seasoned veterans and Junior USAT All- Americans.His underlying focus with all athletes is blending a positive life change with performance that extends beyond the finish line. Join Coach Robbie and CMC for an afternoon of fun in the sun where your open water swim will be lit up with learning.Topics to be covered:
  • OWS specific technique
  • Entry and exit
  • Sighting
  • Drafting
  • Breathing techniques
  • Swimming in a straight line
  • Cornering buoys
  • Plotting your course
  • Beach and mass swim starts
  • How to deal with swimming in a crowd
  • Dealing with anxiety
  • Fast wetsuit removal
  • How to train in the pool for OWS
 
What does it cost?
  • CMC Members – $5
  • Non-CMC member – $20
What does my registration include?
  • An awesome time with Coach Robbie & fellow athletes! 
  • An afternoon of learning & fun
  • Water, Gatorade and snacks will be provided
What do I need to bring?
  • Goggles
  • Cap
  • Pull bouy
  • Band (old tire tube or race belt)
  • Swim paddles
  • Wetsuit (please bring if you have one but we won’t be swimming in it)
 
Directions
  • Once you turn East on Peabody Rd, you will drive about a mile to the park entrance. Take a left into the entrance and follow the road, through the entrance station, to the lake on your left hand side. From the park entrance to the lake, it will be about 2 miles. There will be a sign directing you where to turn left at. DO NOT SPEED IN THE PARK!

2017 Annual 4th of July CMC Bike Ride

IMG_0039.JPGColumbia Multisport Club’s Annual 4th of July Bike Ride is one of the highlights of our biking year.

This ride is open to all with route lengths of 23 miles, 50 miles, 75 miles and 100 miles.
The 50, 75 and 100 miles routes have water/food opportunities or an aid station stop along the way. The 22.5 mile route is a NEW ROUTE this year so that you can have a nice easy ride without he dreaded I-70 outer road from Millersburg to Rt. Z on the way home.

If you are free to volunteer for the aid station in at the intersection of RT DD & RT E, please let us know by emailing membership@columbiamultisport.com.

Time: 7 a.m. Sharp!!! Please arrive at 6:30 to air up tires, etc…
